Let's Get Comfortable with the Uncomfortable

Have you ever felt that ping of fear before going to do something new? Whether it's starting at a new school, going on a blind date or even driving by yourself for the first time? I want you to know that is a completely normal response to a situation we're not comfortable in! We all enter this brief panic mode that is our inate human instinct to keep us safe. Our brains are designed to scan our environment for potential threats, notice them and tell us "DON'T DO IT OR YOU MIGHT DIE".

This is our programming from back in the hunter gatherer days, when we would encounter a predator, our brain would send messages to our our bodies, propelling us into 'flight or fight mode', where we can stand our ground and fight the saber tooth tiger or we run like hell back to our caves. This little safe zone, is our comfort zone. Sticking to our regular routine, hanging out with the same people and doing the. same. damn. thing. every day. Boring huh? We're conditioned to think this is normal though, because it's safe and comfortable. But this isn't where the magic lies. The magic is in the leap towards what we're fearful of but also excited about. The leap is like any other skill, the more times we practice it, the easier it becomes.

SO! Remember the Lion from The Wizard of Oz, who wanted the Wizard to grant him the wish of being that big courageous Lion he always wanted to be? He thought he was just born weak, timid and full of fear and missed out on the whole courage aspect. I can, like I'm sure many others can relate to him. We all know the story that he actually comes to the realistaion he was courageous this whole time, but just had to take risks, feel the fear and respond courageously. Guess what?! That adorable little story is a lesson for us all. We all have the ability to be courageous, no one is born more courageous than anyone else, it's just about our willingness to jump into that situation.

This process of leaping is what will propel us from a life of living 'comfortably' to living a life full of magic. Magical relationships, a magical career and constantly going on magical trips, squuezing all of the goodness out of life, which is what we were put on this earth to feel. It's not too hard to work out what to leap towards either. All that we need to do is look back on our day/week, work out what we're saying we're not 'ready' for, see if we would love to accomplish or start work on even though we feel as though we're not 100% going to be ready, and just go for it. Yes there is an element of preparation, like getting on stage and speaking to a group of people. We have to prepare our content, the structure of it and also guage audience participation. That is only part of it though, it all lies within our ability to say yes to doing it in the first place and actually walking on stage, turning on the mic and starting.

So yes the easy thing would be to say no and continue living a life of comfort, but what we probably have felt is our soul tugging on our sleeves saying "really this is it...but this isn't what we we're put on this earth to do...I know you really love doing xyz...why can't we do that." We need to step into our light, follow our curiosity, create our passion and find our tribe so they can do the same. LET'S BE HONEST we were not put on this earth to simply work 40 hours a week for 40 years to then live on 40% of what we previously earned. We need more people stepping into their greatness and the thing is we deep down really know what that is, if you start searching you will find out what you were put on this earth to do. BUT it comes back down to being willing to find out, being willing to take that risk and being willing to take the leap into the unknown to live a life we're all designed to create. The beautiful thing is, once we leap the universe is there to catch us, doors will start opening to recognise our purpose. Our path is already laid out for us, we just have to be extrememly willing to go find it and live it! It's easier said than done of course, but if we do what is easy now, we will live a hard life, but if we do what is hard now, we will live a life of ease. So if you've been waiting for someone to give you permission to leap, here is that magical sign...GO, DO & LEAP xoxo the universe
